The Gentleman's cabinet.
Awarded a rare Bespoke Guild Mark by the Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers , this is a masterpiece of exceptional provenance, never to be repeated.
Featured in Bonham's of Bond Street's ' A Celebration of Excellence' exhibition in 1996 and in subsequent publications, this exceptional cabinet was designed and made as a manifestation of the cabinet maker's art.
The design and construction of this piece is of a complexity to which it is difficult to do justice, so please do call us for further details.
Briefly, the cabinet has full length pivoting doors, opening to reveal graduated drawers and shelving, all made to an unparalleled level of precision. This precision is vital to the piece, with its unique sprung-loaded drawer pulls and sides which have to free float from the central pedestal on a hidden foot, all supported by a beautifully hand engineered full length hinge.
As mentioned, this piece also carries a Bespoke Guild Mark, no 191, but one that is hand written in italics on parchment and signed by all the members of the awarding committee.
A very rare workpiece, held back as an heirloom pice, and only now released for sale.
