This piece was awarded the prestigious Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers’ yearly prize, The Claxton Stevens, (for the most outstanding piece of furniture to have won a Guild Mark).
Although the inspiration for this piece would appear to be oriental, its design actually originated from the detail where the black cylinder intersects the top of the legs. This then generated the idea for balancing the curved top effortlessly upon the cylinder with no other support or connections.
The carcase is made in English Walnut, with Weathered Rippled Sycamore drawer fronts. The drawers are made in English Oak and the handles with Ebony and Stainless Steel. The cylinders are ebonised.
