The Ah-Mwa is a limited edition fine jewellery cabinet handcrafted from hand-selected, sustainable solid American Black Walnut with weathered copper trim and 5300-year-old prehistoric Bog Oak accents. This substantial piece is inspired by the glamour and elegance of the largely forgotten armoires of the Art Nouveau and Art Deco movements but with a strong contemporary styling and functionality.
All seven mitred drawers (and concealed stationery compartment) are individually configured and fitted out to elegantly showcase and curate an entire jewellery collection, from earrings, bracelets and bangles, to watches, rings and brooches, and each is lined in soft turquoise lamb's leather with an ivory leather-lined base. The joints of each drawer are reinforced with decorative dovetail mitre keys. The unique interlocking design of the drawer fronts is a highly distinctive signature feature,with the bevelled edges providing a clean aesthetic by removing the need for handles.
The slim bi-fold lockable doors overlap the drawer fonts, avoiding the need to lock the drawers individually. Behind the doors is recessed a pair of bevelled mirrors and when opened two pairs of necklace cases are revealed.
This piece is inlaid with a gold maker's mark and a numbered edition disc – only 25 will ever be made.
The Ah-Mwa was featured in The Financial Times’ Christmas edition of How to Spend It, where it was described as ‘the Rolls Royce of jewellery cabinets’.
