This table was made as part of a suite of ‘Brunel’ dining room furniture including chairs and a display cabinet. The furniture was designed for a client whose father was a civil engineer. Remembering that childhood holidays usually included a visit to a ‘special’ bridge my client asked me if the furniture design could possibly reflect some engineering features. The table consists of a solid oak top supported by an under frame made up from oak linkage pieces held in position by walnut pins. I have also made a version of this table with a glass top @ £3,976 which allows the intriguing structure of the under frame to be clearly visible.
