Inspiration for the design of this bed was taken from my interest in civil engineering, and in particular bridge design. The solid Maple framework of the bed is linked together by walnut pins, with the mattress supported on sprung wooden slats. The stainless steel rods on the headboard are designed to represent the supporting wires of a suspension bridge.
