The concept for this table was lead by our desire to explore new methods in which to manipulate wood.
The only way to know that it would work was to do it for real, in the actual timber and full size. No computer program would have been able to model and test the shape and so on a daily basis we would use our expertise to decide on the shaping, thickness’s, joining points and making methods etc.
Once we had formed each sweeping laminate they were lovingly hand spokeshaved, flowing from rounds into oval sections, a feat that was particularly challenging and required excellent craftsmanship skill and a keen eye for detail.
This free formed, flowing concept can be applied to a variety of furniture types from hall tables to dining tables and chairs.
